There’s a lot about Utah that lends itself to being a surveyor’s paradise. The state is well known for its wildlife and many untamed areas. This coincides with how much of Utah has largely been unexploited and could benefit from the help of surveyors.
Before you can hope to cash in, though, you’re going to need to jump through a few hoops. The surveying industry is incredibly regulated all over the country and Utah is no different. One thing you’ll absolutely need to do is acquire a Utah land surveyor stamp. Then you need to read the following to be sure yours is in compliance or you’ll only be making more work for yourself.
The Dimensions of a Utah Land Surveyor Stamp
In Utah, a land surveyor stamp, seal or electronic file can be used as long as it otherwise meets the rest of the specifications we’re going to list here. One of those specs is that the stamp be circular and 1-1/2" in diameter.
That might not seem like the most important of features, but someone who is familiar with the Utah land surveyor stamp will notice something is off right away.
The Aesthetics of the Utah Land Surveyor Stamp
Whether or not your Utah land surveyor stamp will be any good has to do with more than just its dimensions though. There’s also the rest of its appearance to consider.
Around the perimeter of the stamp, you should notice a braid. Inside the stamp, there will be another circle, though this one is outlined in dots. Between the perimeter and the inside circle, you should read, “Professional Land Surveyor.” Along the bottom, between these two sections, it should say, “State of Utah.”
Your license number should appear in the middle beginning with the prefix “No.” and then a space. Below that, your full name should be showing exactly how you put it down on your certificate.
For the most part, the Utah land surveyor stamp is nothing special. It looks like most of the others you’ll find across the country. Still, that just means it will take that much less time to run through the above and be sure yours is compliant before trying to use it.
