What is printed in each part of a Wyoming surveyor seal?
The outer band reads Professional Land Surveyor across the top and Wyoming across the bottom. The inner circle holds your name, your license number set in the center, and the word Date, all as laid out in ch. 5 § 1(a).

Are the Wyoming circle sizes a range or a fixed figure?
Fixed. Ch. 5 § 1(a) gives one diameter for each circle rather than a band: 1-3/4 inches for the outer circle and 1-1/4 inches for the inner. Order to those two figures and nothing else.
The difference between them leaves a ring 1/4 inch wide on every side for the title and the state name. Lettering for the longer dual-license title has to fit inside that same band.
Which devices does the Wyoming board authorize?
A crimp seal, which is an embosser, and a rubber stamp facsimile. The rule's wording in ch. 5 § 1(a), (c) allows one or the other or both, so a surveyor may keep an embosser and an ink stamp of the same design.

How do you sign a sealed Wyoming document?
Through the seal. Under ch. 5 § 1(c), (e), (f), your signature crosses the seal impression instead of sitting in a separate block beside it. Plan title blocks so the impression lands where your pen naturally falls.
The inner circle also carries the word Date as part of the required design. Test your usual pen over a sample impression, because an ink that skips or smears over the stamp will blur both marks at once.
Which Wyoming surveying documents take the seal?
Every surveying document that goes on file or on record under Wyo. Stat. § 33-29-801, a reach that in practice covers Wyoming's public-record surveying work. Section 33-29-601(c) adds final plats, maps, land surveys, drawings, plans, designs, specifications and reports.

Does Wyoming accept an electronic seal?
Yes. Ch. 5 § 1(d), (e) permits it without naming a vendor or a technology. What the rule sets instead is a functional standard made up of four parts, so the test is what your process does rather than which product you buy.

When is a Wyoming surveyor barred from using the seal?
Whenever your license is expired, inactive, revoked or suspended. Wyo. Stat. § 33-29-601(e) forbids sealing in each of those states, and it also forbids letting another person use your seal.

What details should you have ready when ordering?
Your name, your license number, whether you hold the surveyor license alone or together with an engineering license, and the device you want. The circle sizes are fixed, so size is not a choice on the order.
Check the license number against your license before you submit it. It sits in the middle of the inner circle, so a transposed digit would show on every sheet you seal.
How can you confirm a new seal is right before first use?
Stamp a sample and measure it: 1-3/4 inches across the outer circle and 1-1/4 inches across the inner. Then read the band and the center against the rule, item by item, including the word Date.
Finish by signing through the sample. Your signature should cross the impression while the name, number and title stay readable underneath it.
Frequently asked questions
Can I order a 2 inch Wyoming surveyor seal so it reads more easily?
No. Ch. 5 § 1(a) states the outer circle as 1-3/4 inches and the inner as 1-1/4 inches, with no range, so a larger seal does not match the rule.
I hold both engineering and surveying licenses. What goes at the top of the band?
The combined title Professional Engineer & Land Surveyor takes the place of Professional Land Surveyor. Wyoming still goes at the bottom, and the inner circle stays the same.
May an unlicensed drafter in my office apply my seal?
No. Section 33-29-601(e) bars you from letting another person use your seal, and under subsection (f) nobody without a license may apply a licensee's seal.
Does an inactive license count the same as an expired one for sealing?
Yes. Section 33-29-601(e) lists inactive status alongside expiration, revocation and suspension as conditions under which you may not use the seal.
Can I sign in the title block next to the seal instead of across it?
No. The Wyoming rule places your signature through the seal impression, so a signature that sits only beside the seal does not follow it.
