What wording and layout does rule 500-X-2-.07(3)(a) set?
Two legends fill the outer ring: the top reads STATE OF ALABAMA, and the bottom reads REGISTERED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. A horizontal line divides the center, putting your name over the line and your registration number under it.

How big is the Alabama seal, and how wide is its ring?
The seal measures 2 inches across the outside, and the outer ring holding the two legends is 1/4 inch wide. Rule 500-X-2-.07(3)(a) gives both as exact figures, not as a minimum or a range.

Does Alabama say whether to use an embosser or an ink stamp?
No. Rule 500-X-2-.07(3)(a) sets out the design and the dimensions and stops there. None of the terms rubber stamp, embosser, computer generated or impression seal is used in it, so the rule leaves the device unnamed.

Where else must your registration number appear?
On every work you sign as a landscape architect. Rule 500-X-2-.07(3) attaches the number to your signed work, and subsection (3)(a) puts it below the center line of the seal, so the number shows up in both places.
Framing the duty around signed work presumes that you sign what you issue. Keep your registration number in your title block template so it is present on a signed sheet even before the seal goes on.
Is there a list of Alabama documents that need the seal?
No list is given. Rules 500-X-2-.07(3), 500-X-2-.01(3) and 500-X-2-.09 do not set out which documents must be sealed. The one related duty that does appear is the registration number on all work you sign.
Without a list, the practical anchor is your signature: anything you sign as a landscape architect carries your number, and the seal is the place the rule puts that number in a fixed layout.
Can an Alabama landscape architect use an electronic seal?
The rules do not address an electronic seal. Rule 500-X-2-.07(3)(b) deals with electronic signatures instead, so its electronic provision speaks to how you sign, not to a seal image.

What happens if an Alabama license is not renewed by March 15?
The license is deemed expired. Rule 500-X-2-.15, in the version in force from April 13, 2026, sets the license period at February 1 through January 31 and ends the right to renew on March 15 of each year.
Getting back in after that means re-registering under whatever statutory requirements exist at that time. The cited rules do not say whether a seal may be used during a lapse, so renew within the window.
What do we need from you to make the seal?
Your name and your registration number, plus the device you prefer. The two legends, the 1/4 inch ring and the 2 inch diameter are fixed by rule 500-X-2-.07(3)(a), so there is nothing to choose there.
Give your name the way you want it to read above the center line, and double-check the number that goes below it against your license.
How should you check the first impression?
Measure the outside at 2 inches and the ring at 1/4 inch. Then confirm STATE OF ALABAMA sits along the upper part of the ring and REGISTERED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT along the lower part.
Last, look at the center: your name above the horizontal line, your registration number below it, and every digit matching your license.

Can I order a smaller Alabama seal for small-format sheets?
Not if you want it to match the rule. Rule 500-X-2-.07(3)(a) states a 2 inch outside diameter as an exact size, so a 1-1/2 or 1-3/4 inch seal departs from it.
Will a 2 inch seal cut for another state work in Alabama?
Only if its face matches Alabama's layout: STATE OF ALABAMA on the upper ring, REGISTERED LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT on the lower ring, a 1/4 inch ring, and name over number across a center line.
Is there any window to renew after January 31?
