The statute directs you to stamp each covered document and then sign the seal. The board's published artwork reinforces the point with an interior caption reading (Affix Original Signature). What size and shape does Alaska require?

The required elements listed above include no expiration date. Because the cited rules are silent on use after a lapse, the practical course is simple: keep the certificate current so the question never comes up on a live project.

Four. The digital signature has to be unique to you, open to verification, kept under your exclusive control, and tied to the document so that changing the document invalidates the signature.
These tests come from 12 Alaska Admin. Code §§ 36.180, 36.185(f)(2). The last condition shapes your workflow: once a file is signed, any edit breaks the signature, so a revised sheet needs a fresh one. Keep signing credentials to yourself, since shared access cannot meet the exclusive control test.
How do you check an Alaska seal impression before using it?

What if my signature does not fit inside the seal space?
Signing across the seal is acceptable. The statute and the board artwork put the signature in or across the seal, so a signature that runs over the impression still sits on it rather than beside it.
Can the date go in the title block instead of the seal?
Only if that spot is within two inches of the seal. Outside that distance, the date no longer meets the placement the element list allows.
Does an electronic seal have to be an exact copy of the illustrated design?
The rule asks for a substantially similar electronic or digital representation, so the test is a close match to the illustration. Redrawing the layout or dropping an element moves you away from that standard.
Does the missing size rule also apply to electronic seals?
Yes. The rule text gives no measurement at all, so neither a physical seal nor its electronic version has a prescribed diameter. Legibility of the name and numerals is the sensible guide for both.
