A Wyoming architect's seal must carry the legend LICENSED ARCHITECT-STATE OF WYOMING, the name on your license, its number and a printed Date: label. Its diameter runs from 1-1/2 to 2 inches, and an embosser, a rubber stamp or a digital image all qualify. Your signature crosses the face, and you date it. This page also covers placement by document class, digital security and what Chapter 9 leaves out.

Wyoming is one row in our architect seal requirements by state table, which sets each jurisdiction's rule side by side. Still working toward the license? The architect licensing path by state sets out what Wyoming asks for first.
What does Chapter 9 require on the seal face?
Four contents, listed in Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 9 § 2(a). Two identify you: your name as licensed and your license number. Two are fixed text: the legend LICENSED ARCHITECT-STATE OF WYOMING and a Date: label.
Send your name in the same form your license uses, and copy the legend character for character, including the hyphen that joins the two phrases. Our article on getting your Wyoming architect seal covers each element in turn.
Why does the die need the word Date:?
Because the rule counts it among the four contents of the seal. A die with only your name, number and legend is missing a listed item, however complete the rest of the face looks.
The label and the signing rule work together. The signing rule separately asks you to date your signature, and the printed Date: label gives you an obvious place to write it on every impression.

How large can a Wyoming architect seal be?
Between 1-1/2 and 2 inches in diameter, under Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 9 § 2(a). It is a band rather than one fixed size, so you choose the figure that suits your sheets.
Shape is not stated separately; the rule measures the seal as a diameter. A larger diameter leaves more room for four lines of content and for a signature that crosses the face without hiding the number.
Is an embosser allowed for the required seal?
Yes. Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 9 § 2(b) names three formats: an embosser, a rubber stamp and a digital image. The required seal may take any of them.
Legal and practical are different questions. Drawing sets are often reproduced, and a raised impression with no ink may not survive a copy, while an inked one will. You can read more about the dry format in our Wyoming architecture seal embosser guide.

How do you sign and date the seal?
Write your signature across the face of the seal and record the date you signed. Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 9 § 3(b), (c) sets both steps, so an impression without a signature over it is unfinished.
Use an ink that shows on a copy, and sign so the license number stays visible under the stroke. The printed Date: label is the natural spot for the date.
Where does the seal go in a set of documents?
On all technical submissions, with placement set by document class in Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 9 § 3(a). Every final design and final drawing carries it, and so does the cover page, title page or index pages of every specification set.
The subsection continues past those two classes to further document types, which this page does not restate. Check the full list before sealing anything outside drawings and specifications. Design ideas that fit these placements are in Wyoming architect stamp design options.
Are digital seals and signatures accepted?
Yes. Digital images are among the formats the rule allows, and Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 9 §§ 2(b), 3(b) accepts digital seals and signatures. The condition is yours to meet: you must secure digitally sealed documents adequately when you distribute them.
The rule stops there. It is silent on certificate authorities, cryptographic standards and authentication methods, so the method of securing a file is your decision, and so is the responsibility if the method falls short.
Does Chapter 9 say what happens to the seal when a license lapses?
No. The seal chapter is silent on use after a lapse. The source listed for lapse questions is Wyoming Board of Architects and Landscape Architects Rules, ch. 8, which sits outside the seal chapter.
What Chapter 9 does fix is a face built around your name and license number. Every impression identifies you personally, so store the device where only you can reach it.
What should you confirm before ordering?
The name on your license, its number, a diameter from 1-1/2 to 2 inches, and a format. The Date: label and the legend are set by the rule, so they are fixed before you place the order.
If you work on paper and in files, you can order more than one format. Our guide to Wyoming architect stamps compares the physical options.
How should you proof the first impression?
Stamp plain paper, measure the diameter, and read each of the four contents. Then sign across the impression, fill in the date, and copy the sheet to see what survives.
If the legend or number breaks up under your signature, a larger diameter within the band usually helps. Correct problems now, because the seal will go on every final drawing in every set. Examples of finished documents are in our note on Wyoming architect stamps on drawings.

Frequently asked questions
Can I order a 1-3/4 inch seal?
Yes. Any diameter from 1-1/2 to 2 inches meets the rule, and 1-3/4 inches falls in the middle of that range.
Do specifications need the seal on every page?
No. For specifications, the rule names the cover page, title page or index pages of every set rather than every page.
What counts as adequate security for a digital seal?
The rule does not define it. It places the duty on the licensee and leaves the choice of certificate authority, cryptographic standard and authentication method open.
Will I need a new seal after I renew?
Chapter 9 does not address renewal. None of the four listed contents is a renewal or expiration date, so the face itself does not go out of date when you renew.
Does the rule prescribe a round seal?
It sets the size as a diameter and states no shape separately.
With your name, number and diameter settled, choose a rubber stamp, an embosser or both from our Wyoming architect stamps and seals, and confirm the Date: label on the proof before approving it.
