A Kansas landscape architect seal is two concentric circles, 1 5/8 inches outside and 1 1/16 inches inside, carrying your name, your certificate number, LICENSED, KANSAS and, along the lower ring, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. Rubber stamps, embossers and digital seals are all allowed. Your signature and the date are written across the impression. This page covers the face, devices, signing, documents and lapse.

What must a Kansas landscape architect seal show?
Under Kan. Admin. Regs. 66-6-1(a), the face is two concentric circles holding your name in the form your license shows, your license certificate number, the words LICENSED and KANSAS, and the title LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT set in the lower ring.
The rule places the profession title in the lower ring, so spell it there exactly as LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT. Use your name in the same form your license shows, since the rule ties the name on the seal to the name on the license. Kansas landscape architect stamp requirements goes through each element.

How large is the Kansas seal?
The outer circle is 1 5/8 inches across; the inner circle is 1 1/16 inches across. Both figures come from Kan. Admin. Regs. 66-6-1(a), so the Kansas seal has a fixed size rather than a minimum.
A fixed size means there is no choice to make on diameter. Every compliant Kansas landscape architect seal is the same size, and a longer name is handled by lettering, not by a bigger circle. Kansas landscape architect stamp guidelines covers how the text fits between the rings.
Which devices can you use?
Three. Kan. Admin. Regs. 66-6-1(a) allows a rubber stamp, an embosser or a digital seal. Any of them is compliant, provided the face follows the rule.
The rule also has reproduction in view: K.A.R. 66-6-1(b)(2) expects that sealed documents will be copied. An inked rubber stamp puts a mark on the page that carries through to copies. An embossed impression without ink is raised rather than printed, so check that it reads on a copy before relying on it by itself.

How do you sign and date the seal?
Across it. Kan. Admin. Regs. 66-6-1(b)(1) calls for your handwritten signature, or an authenticated digital signature, together with the date, written across the seal rather than beside it.
Plan the title block so the seal has room for a signature running over it. A signature that crosses the impression should still leave your name and certificate number readable underneath, so sign with a pen that does not flood the lettering.
Which documents must be sealed?
K.A.R. 66-6-1(c)(1) applies to each document, and it names drawings, technical reports, records and papers among them, unless a practice exemption applies. For landscape architecture, that exemption sits in K.S.A. 74-7032.
Start from the assumption that each document is sealed, then look at whether K.S.A. 74-7032 takes it out. Kan. Admin. Regs. 66-6-1(c), (d), (e) is the place to read the full sealing scope. Why the Kansas landscape architect seal carries weight explains what the seal certifies.
What must a digital signature meet in Kansas?
Four tests in K.A.R. 66-6-1(b)(3). The signature has to be unique to you, capable of verification, kept under your sole control, and tied to the document so that any alteration invalidates it.
Those tests describe results, not a product. The rule names no software, so judge any signing tool by whether it meets all four, and keep whatever controls it, such as a password, to yourself.
Will the impression need to hold up on copies?
Plan for it. K.A.R. 66-6-1(b)(2) anticipates that the sealed document will be reproduced, so choose a device and ink that stay legible once the sheet is copied, scanned or printed again.
This matters most for the signature crossing the seal. A copy has to show the seal and the signature over it clearly enough to read both. An inked impression with crisp lettering does this better than a faint or uninked one.
Can you stamp after your license expires?
No. Under Kan. Stat. Ann. § 74-7023(d), it is unlawful to stamp with the seal once the license has expired or been revoked, unless the license has since been renewed or reissued.
Renewal or reissue is what restores the right to stamp. Until then, the seal stays in the drawer, even for revisions to documents you sealed while the license was active.
What should you send with your order?
Your name exactly as your license shows it, your license certificate number and your device choice. The size, the circles and the fixed words are set by the rule, so those details complete the face.
If you plan to seal digitally as well as on paper, keep the digital seal identical in wording and proportion to the physical die so the two match. Kansas landscape architect stamp and seal options lists the formats, and the steps in a Kansas landscape architect seal application covers the licensing side.
How do you check a new impression?
Measure it first: the outer circle should be 1 5/8 inches and the inner circle 1 1/16 inches. Then read every element and confirm LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT sits in the lower ring.
Sign and date across a test impression, copy the sheet, and read the copy. If the signature hides the certificate number or the copy loses detail, adjust your signing stroke or switch to an inked device.
If you also hold a Kansas geologist license, the Kansas geologist seal rules set out what that seal must carry.

Frequently asked questions
Can I use initials instead of my full name?
The rule ties the name on the seal to the name your license shows. Order the seal in that form rather than a shortened version you use informally.
Does a date go inside the seal?
No date is among the required elements of the face. The date you add is the signing date, written across the seal with your signature under K.A.R. 66-6-1(b)(1).
Is a scanned image of my signature enough for digital documents?
Test it against the four requirements in K.A.R. 66-6-1(b)(3). An image that anyone with the file could copy, or that survives an edit without being invalidated, does not meet them.
Once my license is renewed, can I use the same seal?
Kan. Stat. Ann. § 74-7023(d) makes stamping lawful again after renewal or reissue. Nothing on the face refers to an expiration date, so the face itself does not go out of date at renewal.
Can I add my firm name to the seal?
A firm name is not among the elements K.A.R. 66-6-1(a) lists for the face. The seal identifies you as the licensee, through your name, your certificate number and the fixed words.
With your licensed name and certificate number in hand, choose a 1 5/8 inch device from our Kansas stamps and seals collection and sign across a test impression before your first sealed set.
