An Oklahoma landscape architect must put seal, signature and date on every technical submission, and the date, handwritten or electronically generated, goes across the seal. The seal shows your name and Oklahoma license number, a circle, and the legend Licensed Landscape Architect, State of Oklahoma. No size is given. This page covers wording, the imaging test, electronic seals, covered documents and ordering.

Oklahoma is one row in our landscape architect seal requirements by state table, which sets each jurisdiction's rule side by side.
Which Oklahoma documents need seal, signature and date?
Every technical submission, addendum and field order you issue for use in Oklahoma, plus your other service documents for the state. The page listing the specification pages under the seal, and the original cover sheet, also get all three, under Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(a), (c)(1).
The specification rule is easy to miss. You seal the page that identifies which specification pages the seal covers, along with the original cover sheet, and that covering extends to addenda and field changes. Our post on Oklahoma landscape architect seal guidelines sets these duties out alongside the rest of the rule.
What appears on the Oklahoma seal?
Four things: a circle, the legend Licensed Landscape Architect, State of Oklahoma, your name, and your Oklahoma license number. Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(a)(2) lists them as the seal's contents.
The legend is fixed wording, so enter it exactly and in full. The circle is itself one of the required contents, so it belongs on the face along with the text. Our post on Oklahoma landscape architect seal design covers the layout of the face.

Is there a required size for the Oklahoma seal?
No. Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(a)(2) (no diameter given) states no size for a landscape architect's seal, so there is no dimension in the rule to build to.
Size therefore comes down to legibility. The date has to be written across the seal, so pick a size that leaves the legend and your number readable once a date crosses them. Our article on Oklahoma landscape architect seal size covers the sizing decision in more depth.
What kind of device satisfies the Oklahoma rule?
One that leaves an image on the face of the original document and on copies made from it. Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(a)(1) sets that functional test first and then names the devices that qualify.
This page does not list those named devices. The one it confirms from the rule is an electronic image, covered below. For anything else, apply the test directly: the seal has to leave a visible image on the original and on the copies made from it.

Where does the date go?
Across the seal. Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(c) requires the date to be affixed across the seal, and it can be written by hand or generated electronically.
That placement shapes both the device and the layout. A seal with dense lettering can turn unreadable once a date runs across it, so keep the face clear enough to take a written date without losing the legend or your number.
Can an Oklahoma landscape architect use an electronic seal?
Yes. Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(a)(1), (c) permits the seal in electronic image form, and § 46.34 also treats an electronic seal as allowed. The date across it can be electronically generated too.
An electronic seal still carries the same four contents: your name, your license number, the legend and a circle. Build it from the same artwork as any physical seal so both versions match.
How do the specification pages get sealed?
Through the page that lists every specification page the seal covers and the original cover sheet. Both carry seal, signature and date under Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(c), and the coverage reaches addenda and field changes.
Keep that identifying page current as the project changes. When an addendum or field change adds pages, the listing and the sealed pages should still agree.
What does the seal rule say about lapse or renewal?
Nothing. The seal rule does not address what happens to the seal when a license lapses or is renewed; the reference is Okla. Admin. Code ch. 55:10 (seal rule silent).
Silence in the seal rule is not an authorization. Track your renewal so the license behind the number on your seal stays current whenever you issue documents.
What should you supply when ordering?
Your name and your Oklahoma license number as they should appear, the device you want and a size. The legend and the circle are set by the rule, so they are the same on every Oklahoma landscape architect seal.
Because no size is prescribed, tell us the size you want, keeping in mind the date that will cross the face. Our post on getting your professional landscape architect stamp in Oklahoma walks through the purchase.
How do you check the seal before first use?
Apply it to a test sheet and read the four contents: the circle, the full legend, your name and your license number. Then copy the sheet and confirm the seal still shows on the duplicate.
Finally, write a date across the test impression. If the legend or number becomes hard to read, choose a larger size or a cleaner layout before sealing real submissions.

Frequently asked questions
Does the rule say where my signature goes relative to the seal?
The rule requires seal, signature and date on each technical submission and places the date across the seal. The rule text read for this page fixes the date's position but does not state one for the signature.
Can the date on an electronic submission be computer generated?
Yes. Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(c) accepts a date that is handwritten or electronically generated, as long as it is affixed across the seal.
Does a field change need a fresh seal, signature and date?
Field orders are among the documents listed in Okla. Admin. Code 55:10-11-8(a), (c)(1), and the seal, signature and date requirement is stated to include all addenda and field changes. Plan on sealing, signing and dating each one.
Is a firm name or expiration date part of the seal?
Neither is among the listed contents. The rule stops at a circle, the legend, your name and your Oklahoma license number.
Does the imaging test apply to copies I send out?
Yes. The device must make an image on the original and on duplications of the original, so the seal has to show on copies as well.
Pick a device and size from our Oklahoma stamps and seals collection and send your name and license number with the order.
