What has to appear on an Oregon landscape architect stamp?
Seven items in a fixed arrangement: REGISTERED over the top with a large dot on each side, your registration number, an open signature space, your name, the word OREGON, your initial date of registration and LANDSCAPE ARCHITECT along the bottom.
Read the face from top to bottom. Your registration number comes directly under REGISTERED, and below the number is the empty center that you sign through. Under that space, three lines stack in a set order: your name first, OREGON second and your first registration date third.
Because Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0000(2), (3), (4) fixes where each line goes, the position of a line matters as much as its wording. How big is the Oregon stamp, and what shape is it?
It is round and about 1-5/8 inches across. Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0000(2) states that one diameter, qualified as approximate, and one shape, so there is no range to pick from.

Which devices does Oregon allow for the stamp?
Three forms are listed in Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0000(1): a crimp hand stamp, which presses a raised impression, a rubber hand stamp, which inks the design, and a computer-generated digital stamp. Each is a form of the same stamp.

Where and how do you sign an Oregon stamp?
You stamp the final draft first and then sign in the designated space across the stamp. Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0003 sets that sequence, and the open center on the face exists so the signature has somewhere to go.
Three forms count as your signature. One is written by hand on the sheet, one is a scan of a handwritten original, and one is a computer-rendered version of the way you sign by hand. When the document is stamped digitally, a digital signature is acceptable to the extent ORS 84.001 to 84.061 allows it.
Which Oregon documents need the stamp?
Specifications get the stamp on their title page, plan drawings get it on every sheet, and any other final draft of a professional document needs it when you prepared it or it was done under your direct supervision and responsible charge.

Can an Oregon landscape architect stamp and sign digitally?
Yes. A computer-generated stamp is one of the three listed devices, and on a digitally stamped document a digital signature is acceptable to the extent ORS 84.001 to 84.061 permits it.
For this profession, Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0003(2), (3), (4) points to Oregon's general electronic signature statute instead of to an engineering signature standard. The digital stamp is listed as a form of the same stamp, so the layout described above applies to the file version too, open center included.
What do renewal and a lapse mean for the stamp?
Renewal does not make the stamp out of date. The date on the face is your initial date of registration, and that date stays the same for your whole career, so a renewal cycle never calls for a new device under Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0000(5), (8).
A lapse is a different question, and the rules read for this page do not answer it. Nothing in them addresses whether the stamp may be used while a registration is lapsed, so this page makes no claim either way. A new die is a matter of wear, not of the renewal calendar.
What should you send when ordering an Oregon stamp?
Send your name, your registration number and your initial date of registration, and say which device you want: rubber hand stamp, crimp or digital file. Everything else on the face is fixed wording.

How do you check a new Oregon impression before using it?

Measure the circle to confirm it sits near 1-5/8 inches. Sign through the center to be sure the space is clear enough for your normal signature. Then scan the test sheet at your usual settings and confirm every line is still legible on the copy.

Does an expiration date go on the Oregon stamp?
Not as one of the listed elements. The only date on the face is your initial date of registration, which does not change when you renew.
Can I order a larger stamp for big drawing sheets?
The rule gives one figure, about 1-5/8 inches, for the stamp. Order to that size rather than scaling the circle up to suit the sheet.
Do drawings prepared by my staff need my stamp?
Yes, when they were prepared under your direct supervision and responsible charge. The stamping duty in Or. Admin. R. 804-027-0010(2), (5), (6) covers final drafts produced that way as well as the ones you draw yourself.
Can a computer-rendered signature be used on a paper set?
Yes. Or. Admin. R. 804-030-0003 accepts a computer-made rendering of the way you sign by hand, and it does not confine that form to digital files.
Does a crimp stamp also need the open center?
Yes. The open center is part of the required layout under subsection (3), whichever device carries the design. That requirement is also why the rubber hand stamp is the safer buy.
